As has been the practice in the past, India is celebrating Children's Day this year on 14th November which is also the Birthday of the late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who was known to the children all over the country as "Chacha Nehru" the benevolent uncle who took such an immense interest in their welfare.
For Many years, the Indian P & T Department has been issuing special postage stamps on Children's Day on 14th November. in 1871, 1973 and 1974, stamps were brought out depicting children's paintings as their motifs. This year again, the Department has selected the stamp design depicting ' a cow' done by Sanjay Nathubhai Patel from Bombay. he was seven year old when he did this painting. |
